Every AWS re:Invent is exciting. But this year’s event will be particularly buzzworthy given how much has happened in the world of technology. Since last year’s re:Invent conference, ChatGPT has become a household name and tool. Companies everywhere have started to leverage Generative AI. Disruptive businesses are emerging everywhere, many without taking on VC funding. We’re in the midst of a massive technological revolution.

At the center of so much of this change is the cloud. The cloud computing space continues to evolve and free up organizations from having to manage their own IT infrastructures. It’s this freedom that paves the way for IT leaders to innovate with powerful technologies. Generative AI, big data, the IoT, LLMs – these are all easier to use with a platform like Amazon Web Services (AWS). And AWS continues to pave the way when it comes to cloud computing.

For nearly two decades now, AWS has pushed the envelope on what it means to design, build, and maintain complex IT architectures. It’s easier than ever to create resilient and scalable applications that serve millions of users all over the world. And what we’ll see, yet again, from AWS re:Invent is how things are only going to get more exciting.

Here’s a look at what you can expect from AWS re:Invent 2023, which is happening between Nov. 27th – Dec. 1st. Plan ahead to make sure you take full advantage of the week.

AWS re:Invent Keynotes

For many people, keynote addresses are the most exciting part of re:Invent. This year, we’ll hear from the following AWS executives:

  • Adam Selipsky, CEO
  • Peter DeSantis, SVP, AWS Utility Computing
  • Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, VP, Data & AI
  • Dr. Ruba Borno, VP, AWS Worldwide Channels and Alliances
  • Dr. Werner Vogels, VP and CTO

These five speakers will cover a wide range of topics. As always, Adam Selipsky will cover trends in the cloud computing industry and discuss transformations that will impact users next year. He is also the person who typically reveals what AWS services and solutions are coming down the pipeline.

Peter DeSantis will be diving into the engineering behind the AWS cloud. For those who are new or unfamiliar with cloud computing, this keynote could help illuminate why the cloud is such a game changer for IT management.

Swami Sivasubramanian’s keynote will likely be one of the more popular events at this year’s re:Invent. He will be discussing how organizations can use Generative AI to create value and empower employees to be more productive. His keynote will also include guest customer speakers who will share how they are using Generative AI in their businesses.

Ruba Borno will be covering AWS’ strategic partnerships and how the company collaborates with others to push innovation in many industries. This keynote is a must-see for organizations that sit between AWS and AWS users to help them maximize business outcomes on the cloud.

Finally, Werner Vogels will be delivering his 12th AWS re:Invent keynote to share how to achieve high resiliency and cost-effective operation on AWS. This keynote will be important for anyone on AWS who wants to improve performance, reduce costs, or ensure they are following the latest best practices.

Deep Dives, Builder Labs, and Fun

Beyond the keynote addresses, there is so much opportunity to dive deeper into specific topics of interest. Leaders at AWS will be hosting sessions related to AI/ML, databases, analytics, containers, and cybersecurity. Speakers will also discuss certain industries, like the public sector and manufacturing. Builder Labs are also a great way to get team members experience using AWS. During Builder Labs, conference attendees work within AWS sandbox environments and have direct access to on-site AWS experts. Similarly, Chalk Talks are a way for existing AWS users to work through real-world architecture challenges with AWS experts. Both of these types of sessions are highly interactive and geared towards improving AWS proficiency.

Outside of educational programming, there is plenty of fun to enjoy. AWS puts on yoga sessions, ping pong tournaments, tattoo booths, and bingo competitions. Plus, it all takes place in downtown Las Vegas. It’s the perfect combination of work and play, and the ultimate week for the cloud computing sector.
